The Story

The Story

A fragrance must have a soul in order to tell a story on the skin. It is a story with a beginning, a middle and a good long lasting ending which will leave you with an everlasting and emotional memory.

The soul of George Town by Josh Lee is indeed its heritage captured in a bottle through scent.

In the golden days of Colonial Penang, a merchant was sitting at the jetty of George Town while holding a cup of bergamot tea at dawn. While sipping the bergamot tea as it slowly diffused its refreshing and calming aroma, he looked out to the sea and watched the ships docking at port.

The cold morning air fused with the salty smell of the sea water slowly accompanied him as he made his way to the busy trading grounds. As he inspected goods and shared trading banters, the fragrance of the pungent spices such as nutmeg, cinnamon, cardamom and anise mingled with the heady scents of local flowers such as hibiscus and rose as well as the delicious aroma wafting out of the kitchens in the vicinity, creating an intoxicating melody of fragrances. To him, this was the quintessential scent of George Town.

The base notes are a tribute to the physical culture of Penang from that era that out lasted and out lived all the social changes in Penang to become sites of historical memories as alluded by the fragrance woods that are both Asian and have long lingering notes for a long time.

And now, you can forever have the scent of George Town to take with you wherever you go.
